TWI is honored to do business with Pure Technologies as the services they provide to cities and countries around the world are innovative and designed to ensure reliable pipeline infrastructure for years to come. One of Pure Technlogies main services is to test city water lines for leaks in the hopes of saving such a valuable natural resource and to avoid major water line breaks that can be devastating to the people the water supply serves and the economy of that city and/or country. The engineers test the water lines with the equipment TWI sends around the world for them (such as the PipeCrawler and PipeDiver.). Pure Technologies has had contracts in places such as The Phillipines, Hong Kong, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, San Juan and the United States. The international locations have proven to be very interesting as TWI has had to extend bonds, send additional goods and deliver directly to construction sites in support of Pure Technologies efforts.
The bonds have been the most interesting and most difficult part of our work with Pure Technologies. The Phillipines temporary imports for Pure Technologies-type contracts are not commonly allowed. The bond fees are very high and are limited to only a three month period of time. Customs is very involved and will only extend the bonds a limited number of times. In Brazil, we have had to secure more paperwork than normal and the passport of someone involved in the project has been kept on file with Brazil customs.
All of the bonds must be controlled and monitored from our side and by our partners. Jackie Horner in our Mississauga Operations Department works closely with our partners to make sure we are canceling or extending bonds prior to the expiry dates. Shipments from mulitiple Pure Technologies sites are moved independently of each other to the contract sites. Each outbound shipment must be identified correctly so that the correct bond is canceled. For clearance into and out of the USA, the clearances are handled by Pure Technologies own broker. Janet Prince who heads this Special Project for TWI has enjoyed the many challenges of Pure Technologies and looks forward to continuing business with them in 2011.
